The Museo del Prado presents the exhibition Velázquez and the family of Philip IV (8 October - 9 February 2014) sponsored by Fundación AXA which will offer for the first time an analysis of the artist’s activities as a portraitist during the last eleven years of his career in the service of the Spanish monarchy, and of the continuation of his endeavours in the work of his successors, his son-in-law Juan Bautista Martínez del Mazo (c.1612-1667) and Juan Carreño de Miranda (1614-1685), during the 1660s and 1670s.

Chinese company donates $20 million to the Academy museum of motion pictures PDF Печат Е-поща

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Tuesday, September 17, that it has received a $20 million gift from the Dalian Wanda Group for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The gift was made as part of the Academy Museum’s $300 million capital campaign and is the second largest commitment received to date. In recognition of this gift, the Academy will name the Museum’s film history gallery The Wanda Gallery, inform www.oscars.org.

The exhibition takes a fresh look at the Museum's holdings of American art made between 1915 and 1950, and considers the cultural preoccupations of a rapidly changing American society in the first half of the 20th century.

Dulwich Picture Gallery’s summer exhibition Nash, Nevinson, Spencer, Gertler, Carrington, Bomberg: A Crisis of Brilliance, 1908-1922 (untile 22 September 2013) will bring together some of the best and most innovative works by Paul Nash (1889-1946), C.R.W. Nevinson (1889-1946), Stanley Spencer (1891-1959), Mark Gertler (1891-1939), Dora Carrington (1893-1932) and David Bomberg (1890-1957) for the first time. It will examine the evolution of this influential group who became among the most well-known and distinctive British artists of the early twentieth century.
