VIENNA. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Wiener Philharmoniker), conductor Christoph Eschenbach and soprano Renée Fleming invite Viennese and to the guests of Vienna to enjoy musical delights in Schönbrunn Palace, Palace Gardens, on 25 May, Thursday, 8:30 pm. „Myths and Fairy Tales” (Märchen & Mythen) is the theme of a magical evening of music from opera, ballet, concert and film, announced wien.info.

At the Summer Night Concert 2017, the Vienna Philharmonic play open-air in Schönbrunn Palace park and to the familiar high standard. What is unusual is that they play this concert, held each year since 2004, with free admission: it is a way for the famous ensemble to give around 100,000 visitors and the global TV audience a special experience.

The baton for the 2017 Summer Night Concert is held by the German conductor and pianist Christoph Eschenbach. At his side for the Concert in Schönbrunn will be the internationally successful American soprano and opera diva Renée Fleming. Shi singt Lieder und Arien von Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904) und Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943).

Born in Breslau, Germany (today Wroclaw, Poland), Christoph Eschenbach studied piano with Prof. Eliza Hansen and won in his young age numerous piano competitions.

His grand classic repertoire is ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) to music of our time and reflects his commitment to not just canonical works but also to the music of the late- 20th and early-21st-century.

Christoph Eschenbach has received the 2014 Grammy Award for his recording of works by Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) performed with the NDR Symphony Orchestra and the violinist Midori.
